What is an electronic ticket and why is it worth to have it?
Traditional paper tickets are more and more often replaced with virtual tickets which the passenger does not receive in a physical form but which are equally valid as tickets in paper form. After buying a ticket, your booking is registered in the airline IT system and your name is added to the passengers’ list. At check-in, you will be allowed to board the plane after providing a booking number or sometimes after giving only your surname.
Such a solution is practical both for the passenger as well as for the airline, so even though it was the cheap airlines that started using electronic tickets, such tickets are becoming a standard also at traditional carriers.
The advantages of an electronic ticket are as follows:
- Safety - you cannot lose an electronic ticket, nobody will steal it from you;
- Comfort – it facilitates and accelerates the check-in procedure and in case you change your booking or the flight route, you do not have to show the ticket;
- Lower price – due to the fact that it is not printed, most airlines do not charge a service (transaction) fee.
